A Living Space for Dhamma in Nepal
“Avoid all evil doing, cultivate wholesome actions, purify the mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.”
Sabba pāpassa akaraṇaṃ, kusalassa upasampadā, sacitta pariyodapanaṃ — etaṃ buddhāna sāsanaṃ.
— Dhammapada 183
Nestled in the north-central hills of Nepal, Lamjung is surrounded by rolling landscapes, forested ridges, and views of the majestic Himalayas. In the southwestern region of the district lies the historic Duradanda range — a place of natural beauty and quiet reflection.
Since 2017, nearly 100 ropanis of land at the foothill have been acquired and generously offered by devoted lay supporters. These offerings were made with faith and goodwill, creating the foundation for a peaceful monastery dedicated to meditation, learning, and the preservation of the Buddha’s teachings.
Life at Bodhivana follows the simple rhythm of the forest monastic tradition — meditation, study, community, and mindful living in harmony with nature.

Quiet forest paths invite slow walking and mindful awareness. Surrounded by nature, practitioners cultivate calm, clarity, and presence with every step.

Life in the monastery follows a rhythm of simplicity. Shared spaces support meditation, study, and mindful work within a peaceful natural environment.

As night falls, the community gathers in silence for meditation and reflection, deepening the practice of mindfulness and wisdom.

More than 2,500 years ago, the Buddha set in motion the Wheel of Dhamma, offering a path of wisdom, compassion, and liberation for all beings. Although these teachings arose in this region, they have gradually faded from Nepal over time.
The vision of Bodhivana is to preserve the heritage of awakening by cultivating a living forest of Bodhi trees — sacred trees connected with the enlightenment of past Buddhas described in the scriptures. May this place become a sanctuary of peace and practice for all beings.
